Flushing System

The TOTO Aimes has one of the most effective flushing systems on the market, called the Tornado Flush. The Tornado Flush uses a dual-nozzle system and harnesses gravity to create a centrifugal force that keeps the bowl clean. Image of a TOTO Aimes toilet with features such as 1.28 GPF, Dynamax Tornado Flush, and CEFiONtect Ceramic Glaze highlighted.

  • EPA WaterSense Certified
  • MaP score of 800
  • Uses 1.28 gallons per flush
  • Fully glazed 2-1/8” trapway

The toilet reliably provides effective, clog-free flushing while using only 1.28 gallons of water per flush. This low water use not only lowers your water bills by using 20% less water than a standard low-flow toilet, but also certifies it for the EPA WaterSense program, which can provide rebates on your water bills depending on location. Flush power is another important feature to consider, and one way of measuring that is by checking a toilet’s MaP score. This is an independent testing program that measures how much solid waste a toilet can remove completely in a single flush. At 800g, the TOTO Aimes is in the “Highly Recommended” category. While I’m less impressed by this rating compared to American Standard models, which usually rate at the highest possible score of 1000g, it still represents a powerful and effective flushing system.

Design Features

The first thing I noticed about the Aimes’s is its minimalistic, sleek, and distinctive design. The tank is angular and flows nicely into the skirted bowl. The TOTO Aimes has a refreshing design that can blend into your modern bathroom aesthetic or become the centerpiece amidst a more traditional feel.

  • Left hand chrome trip lever
  • Concealed trapway
  • One-piece unit
  • Slow-close seat included
  • Glazed with CEFIONTECT

CEFIONTECT is TOTO’s glaze technology that prevents bacteria and tiny particles from sticking to the toilet’s glazed surfaces, which includes both the interior and exterior.. The toilet is available in cotton and sedona beige. Made to order models are available in bone, colonial white, and ebony (although the ebony color does not come with the CEFIONTECT glaze). A chrome plated trip lever is included. The seat that comes with this model is a SoftClose, which prevents unintentional slamming. The seat is designed to close slowly once pushed down to avoid noise. The slow closing of the seat also increases the seat’s lifespan by significantly decreasing wear-and-tear. The Aimes comes with the standard 12” rough-in but 10” or 14” rough-ins are available as well. The toilet is covered by a one year limited warranty. One of the great features of this toilet is that it is ADA compliant. With a seat height of 17-1/8″ and an elongated bowl and seat, the toilet is accessible and comfortable for all, especially taller adults and those with mobility issues.

Cleaning Ability

The Aimes’ one piece skirted design makes it easy to clean, without the nooks and crannies that collect debris on most toilets. . In addition, TOTO’s CEFIONTECT glaze provides both the inside and outside of the toilet with a super smooth, sleek surface that prevents bacterial growth and stains.  This means all you have to do is give the toilet a nice wipe down every other week with mild soap and water. In addition to the glaze, TOTO’s Tornado Flush  system is designed to clean the toilet after every flush, keeping it spotless and odor free. The rimless design is contoured to prevent grime buildup underneath, and two jets are positioned to send a spiral of water around the bowl when flushing. It’s an innovative design that boosts both flushing power and cleanliness.

Additional Facts to Note

  • The Aimes toilet is compatible with TOTO’s premier removable bidet, the Washlet+
  • Several different models of the Washlet+ are available, offering features such as heated seat, remote control, heated water, and air drying

TOTO Aimes vs. TOTO Ultramax

Let’s compare the Aimes with another of TOTO’s one piece toilets, the Ultramax.
Aimes (MS626124CEFG#01) Ultramax (MS854114SG#01)
One piece One piece
1.28 gallons per flush 1.6 gallons per flush
WaterSense Certified Not WaterSense Certified
Elongated Universal Height bowl Elongated standard height bowl
ADA compliant Not ADA compliant
2-1/8” concealed trapway 2-1/8” exposed trapway
Tornado Flush system G-Max flush system
Price range: very high Price range: high
800 MaP 600 MaP
The Aimes is clearly the higher end toilet between the two; although the Ultramax uses a higher volume flush and isn’t WaterSense certified, the Aimes still has a higher MaP rating. However, these differences are reflected in the pricing of the two units as well.

Buying Options

While the TOTO Aimes isn’t available from Lowes or Home Depot, it can be found at several online retailers.  The lowest price available is from Amazon, but this listing does not include a seat, which can run anywhere from $115 for the basic slow close seat up to over $400 for a compatible bidet seat. Amazon also offers the Aimes with the WASHLET+ bidet seat for a considerably higher price. The TOTO Aimes, including the slow close seat, is also available from Build.com and Wayfair for nearly the same price. Wayfair offers free shipping with a 30 day return window, while Build.com requires a larger order for free shipping but has a 90 day return window.

Final Verdict

As you can see, the TOTO Aimes is an excellent choice if you are looking for a modern one-piece luxury unit. Although it comes with a high price point and only has a warranty of one year, its features and quality justify the price, especially if you’re looking for a toilet that integrates seamlessly with a bidet seat.
