This unique unit is tiny but mighty, only weighing 50 pounds!

Flush System

The ActiClean has the highest MaP score of 1,000 grams. Using 1.28 gallons per flush, the unit saves you about 20 percent on your annual water usage, compared to a traditional 1.6 unit!

The ActiClean comes with the ultra-strong VorMax flushing system, which uses 70% of its water usage on cleaning the bowl and the remaining 30% on starting the siphon and removing waste.

The toilet has dual injection flush valves for optimal bowl rinsing. The toilet’s glazed trapway also prevents waste from sticking and reduces the chance of waste sticking and enhancing flushing power.

A chrome metal trip lever is installed on the toilet’s lefthand side.

Design and Style

The ActiClean has two cycles: quick clean and deep clean. Quick Clean is used for regular upkeep as opposed to the Deep Clean setting. A Quick Clean cycle lasts only one minute while the thorough Deep Clean cycle lasts ten minutes, leaving behind a fragrant, sparkling bowl. Just select your cleaning setting by pressing the button on top of the tank!

The self-cleaning mechanism operated on 4AA batteries with up to a year of battery life. Four AA batteries are included so you can use the toilet immediately after installation!

But the cleanliness doesn’t stop there. The toilet comes with the classic American Standard EverClean glaze which inhibits the growth of stain and odor-causing bacteria.

The ActiClean’s CleanCurve Rim also eliminates the surface area where grime buildup may occur. This unit is ADA-compliant, with a comfortable rim height of 16.5” and an elongated bowl.

The toilet comes with a high-quality plastic seat with no slip bumpers and a quick-release button for quick seat removal. Two color-matched bolts are included.

A lifetime warranty on chinaware, ten-year warranty on mechanical parts, and one year warranty for electronics and the seat are included. The toilet is only available in white. You will receive a tank, toilet seat, wax ring, and bowl, but no supply line.

image showing features of the champion 4, water consumption and height This toilet features the industry’s largest trapway, utilizing a 4-inch piston action accelerator flush valve to  eliminate 70% more mass  than standard toilets in the blink of an eye. American Standard demonstrated this power in an astonishing video in which they did a flush test with golf balls.

This high-efficiency toilet uses only 1.6 gallons per flush, making it environmentally friendly as well.

Design & Style

Having reviewed hundreds of toilets, we found that the Champion 4 is one of the most comfortable to use. The elongated shape of the bowl allows for extra hip support, and the height of the seat, at 15.75″, makes sitting comfortable for all users.

  • Classical style
  • Seat height 15.75″

The full-flush mode delivers superb flushing force using only 1.28 gallons of water per use! The dual-flush system allows you to choose the flush power that is right for your needs, saving you water and thus reducing your water bill. Unsurprisingly, the H2Option is EPA WaterSense certified due to its efficiency.

  • Gravity fed flush
  • Powerwash rim
  • WaterSense Certified

Combined with PowerWash, this toilet delivers raw power while maintaining low water usage. The toilet  uses 20% less water than standard toilets , saving you money with each press of the lever while delivering high-quality performance. The toilet has a flushing score of 1,000 MaP

Design & Style

The Cadet PRO is EPA WaterSense certified as well as ADA compliant. With its EverClean finish, the shiny and tough elongated bowl surface will always be clean and protected from the growth of bacteria and mold.

  • Classical design
  • 17″ seat height
  • Exposed trapway
  • Color options: white, bone, linen

The Cadet PRO is made of long-lasting vitreous china. It is available in white, bone and linen, and does not come with a seat. The toilet does come with color-matching bowl cups that are easy to install and will make decorating your bathroom a cinch.

Cadet PRO Compared to the TOTO Drake II

The Cadet PRO comes with all of the special American Standard features we mentioned above.

On the other hand, the TOTO Drake II comes with TOTO’s Tornado Flush technology, also known as the Dual Cyclone. This system is similar to the American Standard PowerWash method, in that it provides a powerful and water-efficient flush. The Drake II features a CeFiONtect coating that keeps the bowl as clean as possible and reduces maintenance, similar to the EverClean finish.

So, which unit is the best toilet out of these two models? Well, it’s almost too close to call, but we believe the American Standard CadetPRO  is the real winner.

Both toilets are excellent contenders, but the Cadet PRO is slightly quieter than the Drake II. That, combined with a less blocky design that makes it more visually appealing, just barely gives American Standard the edge in this battle.

  • Cadet flushing system
  • Large 3″ flush valve

Best American Standard Toilet review

History of the American Standard Company

American Standard started as the Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company (SSMC), back in 1895. As one of the first plumbing and fixture manufacturers in the United States, SSMC quickly grew to become a highly influential company.

They were at the forefront of advances to modern plumbing such as widespread indoor plumbing, the creation of the one-piece toilet, and combination faucets.

In 1967, the company changed its name to American Standard, and then in 2008 American Standard merged with fellow companies Crane Plumbing and Eljer to form the American Standard Brands we know today.

American Standard manufacturers not only toilets, but everything needed for a complete home bathroom, and even some kitchen appliances. This includes showers, tubs, sinks, faucets, soap dispensers, towel bars, toilet paper holders, and of course toilets and toilet seats.

The company’s general design leans towards clean lines, minimal frills, and classic colors. Within those guidelines, they’ve still produced products that fall into one of four distinct design categories; traditional, transitional, modern, and innovative.

Collections range from the classically elegant Delancey, which uses traditional materials and subtle ornamentation to inspire a feeling of old-money class, to the ultra-modern Times Square collection featuring sleek lines and blocky, geometric angles.

Features of American Standard Toilets

Customizing your home requires taking into consideration lots of details. Toilets are no exception.

Let’s break down the details you need to consider when searching for the perfect fit.

WaterSense Technology

You may have noticed the EPA WaterSense certification on some American Standard toilet models. But what does it mean?

This certification signifies that the Environmental Protection Agency has recognized that particular toilet as a high-efficiency toilet; these toilets tend to use 20% less water, without compromising performance.

Water efficiency can create significant savings on your water bills while making a positive environmental impact. That’s great news, considering that your toilet is responsible for the majority of water use in the home!

ADA Compliance

ADA compliant toilet with rails American Standard has made a concentrated effort to design products that meet or exceed the standards recommended by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). This includes Right Height toilets that are more accessible to people in wheelchairs, walk-in bathtubs, and showers with textured bases for better grip.

Almost every design collection offers ADA-compliant options. These features are not only necessary for people with disabilities or limited mobility, but many also add convenience or comfort to abled people as well.

Their website also includes a comprehensive article on how to better incorporate ADA-compliant design in your bathroom.

Eco-friendly & Economical

With the current change in our climate, it is vital to invest in a toilet that is eco-friendly and doesn’t harm the environment. Eco-friendly toilets consume less water while flushing, helping you reduce your water bills and save thousands of gallons of water every year.

Replacing the old flushing toilet in your house with a new-age model can save you as much as 25% of a home’s daily water usage. According to a law passed in 1995, a toilet can’t use more than 1.6 gallons of water per flush. If your toilet requires multiple flushes to wipe out all traces of waste, it’s time to switch to a new one.

Toilet Seat Details

Toilet seats usually don’t come with the toilet, leaving you with the hassle of purchasing one separately. So, before making a purchase, make sure that you read the list of a toilet’s features to determine if it comes with everything you’re looking for, including a seat. Toilet seats come with various features, such as soft-close features, heating features, etc. You can choose the seat that meets your preferences to improve your bathroom experience.

Flush Mechanism

Like most toilets, all American Standard toilets come with a flush valve. Single or dual flush is something to consider. A dual flush toilet lets you choose the water usage: either 1.28 or 1.6 gallons per flush. In both cases, power is the same, and efficiency is maintained. Both are eco-friendly.

✓  Design Style

Designing the inside of your bathroom is something that most homeowners take part in, from customizing the tiles to the paint. But what many forget is the design of the toilet. American Standard toilets come in many different sizes, finishes, and heights, all in different price ranges. They can even come wall- or floor-mounted, whichever you prefer.

Water Consumption

As law mandates, all manufactured toilets in the U.S. cannot use more than 1.6 gallons per flush, which led manufacturers to create new technology in toilets that will maintain the same power while using less water. An EverClean surface will help clean everything that comes it’s way, reducing the number of flushes needed.

Dimensions (Will it Fit?)

They are 27 to 30 inches deep, 21 to 31 inches high, and about 20 inches wide. In most cases, traditional toilet seats are 15 1/2 inches from the ground, which, for decades, had been considered the most comfortable height.

Installation Steps

Compared to traditional units, they offer a much simpler and faster installation. For example, consider the drain assembly and adjustment. Often this is one of the trickiest parts of installing a new toilet. Traditional toilet drains have around 15 parts to assemble, whereas American Standard drains have only 2. As well the seal on their drains are very tight, and the lift rods come pre-adjusted at the correct height.

Buyers Guide of the Edgemere

The design gives your bathroom a more spacious look. The American Standard Edgemere’s design fits in every shape and space and when used along with any Edgemere sanitary fittings or fixtures, it completes your bathroom’s look.

The Height

One of the things that set it apart is its height. Unlike traditional toilets, who’s bowls are 15 inches high, the Edgemere bowl is 16 inches from the ground,  making it ADA compliant. This also means that the toilet is more comfortable, and won’t cause knee or back pain after extended usage.  It also makes the toilet easily accessible for people who are elderly, tall, or who have limited mobility.

Using only 1.28 gallons of water per flush, the Edgemere meets EPA WaterSense standards, while being quiet, effective, and reliable. Water is pressurized and comes from the PowerWash rim, which scrubs the entire bowl and leaves no trace behind.

Environmentally Friendly

This model is relatively easy to maintain, as the powerful flush mechanism does an incredible job of leaving no debris behind. Additionally, the flushing system is powerful enough to avoid clogging.

Manufacturer Reliability

American Standard is a brand that has been in the market for years and always puts customer satisfaction above anything else. With the help of continuous feedback and improvement, their products have become the best choice for practicality and reliability.

Installation

Since it’s a fundamental design, it also is effortless to install. No professionals are needed, especially if you have some DIY skills. There aren’t many extra pieces, so simple installation tutorials should be able to guide you through the process.

Comparisons

Edgemere vs. Cadet 3

Edgemere and Cadet 3 are two of the most popular American Standard toilet models. So what’s the difference between them?

If you want to buy an affordable model that gets the job done, but has no high-end features, the Edgemere is a good choice. It has an EverClean surface that keeps the bowl free from bacteria, and  it meets EPA WaterSense standards. It’s a two-piece unit, requiring the bowl and the tank to be attached together during the installation. Overall, the Edgemere is an efficient product that offers decent comfort.

The Cadet 3 has a more modern look, and smooth edges which makes it easy to wash away dirt and bacteria. It boasts a 3-inch flush valve which allows it to reach an impressive 1000g MaP score. Despite the powerful flush, this toilet is pretty quiet and consumes only 1.28 gallons of water, meeting the EPA WaterSense standards.  It also comes with a comfortable seat on slow-close hinges.

READ REVIEWS

Edgemere vs. Townsquare

The first difference that you notice between these models is the design. While both look modern, Townsquare is more blocky and bulky. The elongated seat of the Townsquare is more comfortable, but it might not be suitable for all bathrooms.

These models have basically the same flush performance. They both come with a PowerWash rim and consume only 1.28 gallons of water per flush, which meets EPA WaterSense standards.

Edgemere vs. ActiClean

The ActiClean is a very popular toilet, mainly due to its self-cleaning properties. It is literally able to clear stains by the push of a button.  This toilet requires minimal maintenance, which makes it a great choice for people who are busy, or who want improved hygiene for a good price. Edgemere does come with an EverClean surface but has no self-cleaning properties.

As the Colony collection has multiple models it can be a bit tricky to choose the right one for you. While we’ve discussed some of the differences in water consumption, shape, and other features above, ultimately you’ll want to pick the best option for you based on your specific needs and preferences.

Below, we will show you all the details to consider when selecting the model that will best suit your needs.

Here are six different factors in choosing the right American Standard Colony model for your bathroom.

Floor Space

One of the common problems with most bathrooms nowadays is the lack of space. If you have a large bathroom with a lot of floor space, you don’t have to pay as much attention to the product dimensions. However, if space is limited in your bathroom, you should always make sure that the toilet you are planning to buy is going to fit in by checking the toilet measurements and measuring your available space. You can also look for round toilets and even compact models to find a smaller model option.

EverClean Surface

Common to many American Standard toilets, EverClean surface is a coating used on the toilet itself that prevents the growth and development of any kind of mildew, mold, or bacteria. With this finish, the mirror-like surface of your toilet stays clean and free from any stains or odor. EverClean also makes maintenance way easier, because your toilet stays cleaner on its own and will require less work to keep it clean. If you want to minimize time spent on cleaning and maintenance, be sure to select a model that features the EverClean surface option.

Bowl Shape

Some models from the Colony collection have round bowls, while others are elongated. The round models like the American Standard Colony 751DA101.020 are better if you want to save space in your bathroom. However, there is a very similar model with an elongated-shaped bowl called American Standard Colony 751AA101.020. This model is a better option if you like the features of both toilets but want or need a more comfortable toilet. However, elongated bowls will take up more space in your bathroom, so there is a trade-off for the added comfort.

Design

Design is something a lot of people tend to forget about and yet, it plays a very important role in both the installation and maintenance of your toilet. In general, the two most common types of toilet designs are the two-piece and one-piece models. Two-piece models have a bowl separated from the tank while the one-piece models don’t, and are instead one standalone unit. The two-piece toilets such as American Standard Colony 751AA101.020 are more traditional and are sometimes considered more trustworthy. They’re also easier to transport, install, and can be cheaper to replace if you only need to replace one part.

In comparison, one-piece models are very simple to maintain due to their design. They have no nooks or seams where bacteria can attach or develop, so it takes less effort to keep the toilet clean. However, sometimes the one-piece models can be more expensive than their two-piece counterparts, and they’re also typically heavier and thus harder to install. The Fairfield toilet is one of the best toilets from the Colony collection and is an ideal option if you need a one-piece model that is long-lasting, powerful, and reliable.

Rough-in

American Standard Colony toilet installed Not everyone’s plumbing is going to be the same. Therefore, you need to find out what rough-in you have in your bathroom. The standard and the most common rough-in is a 12-inch option. However, there is also a smaller 10-inch version as well as the bigger 14-inch rough-in. If you are not sure which one you have, make sure to measure it properly first before finalizing your toilet choice. Be sure to pick a model with a matching rough-in so you can successfully install your new toilet.

Water Consumption

The amount of water your toilet consumes per flush is a very important factor to consider. Although it may not seem like a big deal, buying a toilet that is water-efficient will save you a lot of money over the years. Most toilets nowadays consume either 1.28 or 1.6 gallons per flush. There are even dual flush models that allow you to choose between a partial and full flush. If you’re looking to save on your water bill, or decrease your water consumption for environmental reasons, look for a model with minimal water consumption. You can also look for models that are EPA WaterSense certified to be fully confident you’re using the most water-efficient model available.

Positive Comments

  • Available in 2 colors
  • Very comfortable

  • Tank refills quickly

American Standard Colony vs. American Standard Cadet 3

If you have already spent some time searching for a new toilet, you may have already seen the Cadet 3 by American Standard. Also known for its longevity, water efficiency, and sleek design, how does the Cadet 3 toilet compare to the toilets from the Colony collection?

To start, both of these American Standard options have a lot of similarities:

  • Water Efficiency – The Cadet 3 is a water-efficient toilet that consumes only 1.28 gallons per flush, like some toilets from the Colony collection. It is also EPA WaterSense certified, and even CALGreen and CEC certified
  • Toilet Accessibility and Comfort – The Cadet 3 is also a highly accessible toilet, with ADA compliance, and similar to several of the Colony collection models, it comes with an elongated bowl for true comfort
  • Easy Maintenance – Finally, the Cadet 3 also includes the EverClean Surface to reduce cleaning needs

However, there are some notable differences:

  • Toilet Color – In comparison to the Colony models only available in bone and white, it’s possible to find a black Cadet 3. However, most of the models online are only available in white, so be prepared to search further for a black option
  • Design Aesthetic – As a bonus for the Colony collection, the Colony toilet has a better-looking design compared to the Cadet 3
  • Slow-Close Toilet Seat – Finally, the Cadet 3 has a slow-close feature that prevents the toilet cover and seat from suddenly slamming. This small detail can make a big difference during the user experience, but you can also purchase a slow-close toilet seat separately and install it with your Colony toilet.

Conclusion

The American Standard Colony collection offers several different models each with its distinct features and benefits. If you are looking for the most water and space-efficient model, the American Standard Colony 751DA101.020 is the right choice as it consumes only 1.28 gallons per flush and takes up very little space. It is also great-looking and available in two different colors, allowing it to fit in with any type of bathroom decor.

On the other hand, if you want something bigger, more comfortable, and more powerful, the Fairfield is a perfect choice. It is quite sturdy and long-lasting. Further, its construction allows you to clean and maintain the toilet with ease. The elongated shaped bowl enhances overall comfort when using the Fairfield, and it offers a powerful flush while only consuming  1.6 gallons per flush.

Features of the VorMax Flush System

Flush System

The American Standard Optum VorMax consists of a powerful VorMax flush system that uses dual injection flush valves. With its powerful flush, it consumes only 1.28 gallons per flush while increasing flush power and preventing problems like clogging. Furthermore, thanks to the high-efficiency flushing system, this toilet is EPA WaterSense certified, which makes users eligible for consumer rebates on their water bills, depending on location.

Classical Design

Like the American Standard Fairfield toilet, this high-efficiency toilet is made from vitreous china and features an elongated bowl for maximum comfort. It also comes with a plastic SoftClose seat with a telescoping cover, and the chrome-plated trip lever ensures effortless flushing.

Cleaning Efficiency

This unit uses an efficient and powerful flush system to keep itself clean. Additionally, the stainless EverClean microbial surface prevents bacteria growth while the CleanCurve rim protects against dirt build-up inside the rim contour. These features combined will keep your toilet cleaner for longer compared to competitors.

Other Features

Let’s have a further look at some key details about the American Standard VorMax toilet. Here are seven essential features.

Bowl Material

Like most quality toilets, this model is built from vitreous china. It’s very durable and easy to maintain. Additionally, it has a high-quality surface coating that prevents dirt and bacteria build-up and can be washed with just a mild soap. Overall, we are overly satisfied with the materials of this product.

Dimensions

The VorMax is a two-piece toilet, which makes it easy to carry to the installation location. Further, the two-piece construction allows for a larger bowl, increasing both comfort and space. Finally, the toilet has a universal height, making it easily accessible for all users, including children, the elderly, and differently-abled individuals.

SoftClose Seat

The next feature that we noticed is the SoftClose seat, which closes itself slowly to prevent unintentional slamming. SoftClose seats last much longer than other seats, and their quality justifies the price. If you don’t want to use the included seat, however, most standard seats will fit this toilet perfectly.

Price and Warranty

While not the most affordable unit available, this toilet still offers a competitive price and strong quality to price ratio. In terms of coverage, the warranty for this product is specific but still fantastic. The company provides a lifetime warranty on enamel, a 10-year warranty for mechanical parts, and a 1-year warranty for the seat specifically.

Vormax specs

MaP Flush Rating

This unit has an MaP rating of 1000, which is highly competitive – this rating highlights that the unit is completely able to clean bulk waste with the help of its 2 ⅙ – inch trapway.

Comparison – Optum VorMax vs. Ultima VorMax

What if we want to compare the Optum VorMax with another popular option, the Ultimate VorMax? Overall, these units have similar specifications, meaning either would be a great choice. Ultimately you should review the design of both units and pick the option which best meets your specific needs.

Like every unit, this toilet does have some disadvantages. For example, with more moving parts, there’s a higher chance of failing, which could result in future repair costs. Further, the powerful flush system increases the chance of leaking, which could ultimately lead to the replacement of the flapper, requiring support from American Standard customer service. With so many benefits, however, these disadvantages don’t detract from the overall value of the unit.

Water Consumption

Water consumption should always be considered when buying a new toilet. When it comes to the Fairfield model, you can be sure you’re using an environmentally friendly option thanks to its EPA WaterSense certification.

The Fairfield consumes only 1.28 gallons per flush, which is lower to both new and old toilets on the market today.

Extra Features

Among this toilet’s other features, one of our favorite details is the SoftClose seat that comes included with the toilet.

This seat specifically prevents unintentional slamming, improving its lifespan while also avoiding unwanted bathroom noise.

Furthermore, the seat is completely white, making it suitable for both modern and older bathrooms.

Warranty Coverage

Finally, one strong feature of Fairfield is the American Standard’s many warranties.

You’ll get a full 1-year warranty on parts, a warranty on the SoftClose seat, and a full lifetime warranty on the toilet coating specifically.

This level of coverage is hard to beat, especially in comparison to other competitor offerings.

Installation

The installation of this toilet is very straightforward, just like the American Standard H20 Siphonic Dual Flush. The Fairfield comes with an instruction manual to help with the installation process.

Additionally, the package includes several important parts like the seat and color-matched bolt caps to help with installation.

However, as a single-piece unit, this toilet may be heavy for one person, so it’s best to install it with at least one other person to help.

Pros and Cons

Like most units, this toilet has both upsides and downsides. To start, the toilet has a beautiful, modern design, which makes it an excellent fit for most bathrooms.

While its seat height is not universal, it is very comfortable, especially for taller individuals. Finally, the toilet itself functions effectively and efficiently and is quieter in comparison to other models.

Looking at downsides, the main disadvantage to the Fairfield is its price. If you are looking to spend as little cash as possible, it might not be the best choice for you.

However, if you are ready to pay a bit more, this unit will be your best investment. Overall, apart from the increase, we are satisfied with everything that this toilet has to offer.

Main Features and Highlights

Let’s have a look at the features of the H2Option toilet.

Design

This high-efficiency toilet is made from vitreous china like many other conventional toilets. It features a round-front bowl that is ideal for smaller bathrooms and restrooms. For effortless and convenient flushing, this model has a chrome-plated push button actuator. Finally, the fully-glazed 2-inch trap-way prevents clogging by boosting the flushing operation.

Flushing System and Cleaning

The American Standard H2Option uses the dual-flush system for a powerful flush. This system supports both partial and full flush options.

With its low volume partial-flush capability, this toilet is EPA WaterSense certified, making users eligible for consumer rebates on their water bills. Further, these flushing options combined with the PowerWash rim-cleaning feature ensure effective flushing capability. Additionally, the EverClean surface helps prevent bacteria, odors, and mold from building up.

6 Unique Features – American Standard H2Option

Let’s look at 6 key features of the American Standard H2Option Toilet:

Consumption

The full flush of this toilet uses 1.6 gallons, which doesn’t meet the EPA WaterSense standards. However, the partial flush does comply and will still be eligible for rebates on your water bills, depending on location.

Build Quality

The toilet is made from a very strong and durable Vitreous China. It’s comfortably shaped and will last at least 10 years. Thanks to its enamel coating, it will prevent bacteria and dirt from sticking. Finally, the toilet surface itself is easy to clean with minimal required maintenance.

PowerWash Rim and Jet-Powered Siphon

For powerful flushing with minimal water use, this model uses a special pressurized rim. When flushing, water goes from the tank to the chamber, using pressurized air to apply force to the water. Then, the water is released, perfectly washing the whole bowl.

Next, the water flows through a bowl jet which uses a siphon to maintain water level during the flush. Both the PowerWash and Jet-Powered Siphon make excellent additions to this toilet and its performance.

Differences – Old vs. New H2Option

Some customers state that they see no difference between these toilets, so we performed a few tests to see how they differ. After our tests, we found no visual differences between these toilets and minimal differences in flushing power.

If you ask an expert, they would say that these two toilets are not the same. However, when it comes to the actual user experience, the only difference is in the flushing capacity. Ultimately, you can decide which is the right H2Option for you based on your personal preferences.

Installation of the H2Option Toilet

Although the installation of this unit is pretty simple, we’ll break it down into 4 easy steps.

Step 1 – Remove the Old Toilet

Before removing the old toilet, make sure to close the supply valve. Using a towel, remove the remaining water from the tank and bowl. Then, remove the supply line. Remove the toilet, plugging the floor waste to prevent odor from escaping. Finally, remove the closet bolts and you’ll be ready to install your new toilet.

Step 2 – Install Closet Bolts

Firstly, measure the rough-in of the toilet (this is the distance between the wall and the flange). Then, install the new bolts into the flange channel based on your measurements.

Step 3 – Install the Wax Seal

Next, invert the new toilet and install the wax ring evenly. You might need to add a bit of sealant. Unplug the waste opening and install the toilet in the proper position. Pay attention to the side marked with “THIS SIDE UP” and ensure everything is facing the right direction to avoid problems in the future.

Step 4 – Install the New Toilet and Tank

Position the new toilet and press the bowl on the flange. You might also need to tighten the nuts until the unit sits firmly in the right position. Then, install caps on the washers and remove any excess sealant. Now, you only need to install the tank.

Firstly, insert rubber grommets into the holes of the tank and insert bolts. Then, install the large gasket at the bottom of the tank and tighten the nuts until the tank is even against the bowl surface. Finally, install the seat according to the manual, and that’s it!

Owner’s Opinion and Feedback

This review wouldn’t be complete without the opinions of actual owners. Ultimately, we noticed that most people who bought this toilet are overly satisfied. Users particularly appreciate the powerful flush system and non-stick surface. However, most customers reported that, for the price, you should at least get the flange bolts and wax rings in the package.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Far Does the Toilet Stick Out From the Wall?

Like most units, this toilet sticks 29¾ inches from the wall.

Where can I Find the Matching Sink?

You should easily be able to find the matching sink from the same manufacturer. When searching on the manufacturer’s website, the matching sink should end with “.020”.

Do Standard Seats Fit This Toilet?

The overall seat fit will depend on the model. This toilet supports only top-mount seats, so most standard seats won’t fit, because they’re usually mounted from underneath. For this specific model, you’ll want to look for a top-mount seat.

Customer Feedback

The main downside of this toilet is that it doesn’t meet ADA regulations. Therefore, it’s not suitable for families with disabled persons, children, or the elderly. However, the toilet has many advantages.

For example, its flushing system is very powerful and uses minimal water. Further, the partial flush is WaterSense certified, which is both better for the environment and saves the user money. Finally, the toilet is very comfortable and comes with a 5-year limited warranty.

Overall Rating 4.0/5

Overall, the American Standard H2Option is a modern, high-efficiency toilet with a dual-flushing system. Additionally, its EverClean surface and PowerWash rim ensure the powerful cleaning of this toilet. Finally, this toilet is EPA WaterSense certified which makes you eligible for consumer rebates on your water bills.

Installation

To start, just like the American Standard Cadet 3, this toilet requires a standard 12-inch rough-in for installation. Since the Champion 4 is a one-piece toilet that is heavier than two-piece toilets, you will want an extra pair of hands for its installation. However, the Speed Connect tank/bowl coupling system makes positioning of the tank very convenient, streamlining the installation process.

Here are the main steps to install the Champion 4:

  1. To start, install the bolts in the flange.
  2. Then, install the wax ring and add a sealant around the base.
  3. Next, place the toilet in the correct position and make sure that the bolts enter the right holes.
  4. After placing the toilet, use nuts and washers to secure it in place, ensuring that the toilet is not too tight.
  5. Finally, press down on the flange and connect the water supply.

Overall Rating 4.3/5

This one-piece ADA-compliant toilet offers superior comfort, self-cleaning operation, and a powerful flushing system with siphon action for improved performance. Its glazed EverClean surface prevents the growth of microorganisms, such as mold, mildew, and odor-causing bacteria.

Even though the American Standard Champion 4 is not EPA WaterSense certified, it still saves on water compared to older models. We hope this review was helpful to you.
