These flushing levels combined with the PowerWash rim ensure effective cleaning. Additionally, the EverClean feature keeps its surface bacteria and odor-free. Also, it prevents the growth of mold. This toilet is EPA WaterSense certified, which makes the users eligible for rebates.
Installation
The American Standard H20 Option requires a 12-inch rough-in. It’s very similar to the American Standard Champion 4. Its installation is as straightforward as any other two-piece toilet. Additionally, it includes two pre-installed bolt cap that saves your time during installation. This toilet comes with 100% factory flush testing with a guarantee of five years.
Old vs New H2Option Toilets
Some customers state that there is no difference between these toilets. That’s why we performed a few tests to see how they differ. What we noticed is that there are no visual differences between these toilets. Then, we tested the flushing power, and again, there is almost no difference.
If you ask an expert, they would say that these two toilets are not the same. However, when it comes to the actual user experience, the only difference is in the flushing capacity.
Unique Features of the American Standard H2Option Toilet
Consumption
The full flush of this toilet uses 1.6 gallons, which doesn’t meet the EPA WaterSense standards. However, since it’s dual-flush, you will still be able to get rebates on your water bills in some countries.
Build Quality
The toilet is made from a very strong and durable Vitreous China. It’s comfortably shaped and will last at least 10 years. Also, thanks to its enamel coating, it will prevent bacteria and dirt from sticking. Additionally, the coating has a special surface that is easy to clean and requires almost no maintenance.
PowerWash Rim and Jet-Powered Siphon
To make the flushing powerful while using minimal water, this toilet uses a special pressurized rim. After the flush, water goes from the tank to the chamber. The chamber has a special system that contains pressurized air and therefore applies pressure on the water. The water is then released from the holes and perfectly washes the whole bowl.
However, the water doesn’t go directly from the rim chamber. Instead, it flows through a bowl jet. It has a siphon that starts with the push of the jet, and it maintains the water level during the flush. PowerWash Rim and Jet-Powered Siphon make an excellent addition to this toilet, making its performance fantastic.
Speed Connect System
Unlike most toilets on the market, this unit comes with a Speed Connect System. It significantly reduces the installation time and comes with pre-assembled bolts and other parts. Besides, it also lowers the chances of losing small parts.
Installation Guide
Although the installation of this toilet is pretty simple, we’ll break it down into a few steps.
Removing the Old Toilet
Before removing the old toilet, make sure to close the supply valve and the flush. Using the towel, remove the remaining water from the tank and bowl. Then, remove the supply line. Remove the toilet but plug floor waste with something to prevent odor from escaping. Finally, remove the closet bolts and that’s it.
Install Close Bolts
First, measure the rough-in of the toilet. It’s the distance between the wall and the flange. Then, install the bolts into the flange channel.
Installing Wax Seal
Invert the toilet and install the wax ring evenly. Also, you might need to add a bit of sealant. Unplug the waste opening and install the toilet in the proper position. However, pay attention to the side market with “THIS SIDE UP”. If it doesn’t face upward, it might cause problems in the future.
Install the Toilet and a Tank
Position the toilet and press the bowl on the flange. You might also need to tighten the nuts until the unit sits firmly in the right position. Then, install caps on washers and remove the excess sealant. Now, you only need to install the tank.
First, insert rubber grommets into the holes of the tank, and insert bolts. Next, install the large gasket at the bottom of the tank and tighten the nuts until the tank is even against the bowl surface. Then, install the seat according to the manual, and that’s it!
Cost-Effective
A good thing about this toilet is that it’s very affordable. It definitely beats most one- and two-piece units. According to many customers, it’s a very reasonably priced unit.
ADA Compliant
ADA compliance is an essential thing to consider. It means that the unit is comfortable for both children and the elderly. Also, it’s perfectly suited for disabled persons. However, this toilet doesn’t meet ADA regulations, which is definitely a downside.
EverClean Surface
EverClean surface has two main benefits. At first, it’s very easy to clean so you won’t have to clean it every single day. Obviously, it also helps the waste go down faster and easier. The other advantage is related to its non-stick properties. For example, it prevents bacteria and dust from sticking, which makes it hygienic and safe.
Owners Opinion on H2Option Toilets
This review wouldn’t be complete with the opinions of actual owners. We noticed that most people who bought this toilet are overly satisfied. Also, they are mostly satisfied with its powerful flushing system and the non-stick surface. However, most customers reported that, for the price, you should at least get the flange bolts and wax rings in the package.
Comparison
Let’s compare this toilet with the most similar units, The Renovator’s Supply White. It offers a mesmerizing design and has the same powerful dual flush feature. However, with half a flush, it’s able to use only 0.8 gallons of water, which is fantastic. It saves more water than this unit, but the main choice would depend mainly on your priorities.
